Dr. Tim Rose- Chairman of the Clinical Advisory Board

Dr. Rose is a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology and a past president of the American Dental Association. Dr. Rose has conducted a number of clinical studies which evaluated new technologies, and has served on several corporate boards and committees. Currently, Dr. Rose practices periodontology in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Dr. Steve Bruce

Dr. Bruce is a private general practitioner and has been active in professional dentistry since graduating from the University of Oregon Dental School in 1976. Dr. Bruce has held numerous leadership positions in dentistry, the most recent being the American Dental Association’s 11th District Trustee, representing Washington, Oregon and Alaska. He serves on numerous boards and committees and is a member of the Board of Directors of the ADA’s Business Enterprises.

Dr. Greg Chadwick

Dr. Chadwick is an endodontist practicing in North Carolina, and currently serves as Dean and Associate Vice Chancellor for Oral Health at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Previously, he has served as president of the American Dental Association, and is a past-president of the Dental Foundation of North Carolina. He is a fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr. Sharon Compton

Dr. Compton is an Associate Professor and Director of the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Alberta. Holding a Ph.D. in Education, Dr. Compton’s teaching is focused in the areas of ethics, evidence-based decision making for practice and dental implantology. She currently practices in a clinic focused on implant placement, and was one of four principal investigators in the recent Periowave™ Canadian Multi-Centre Trial.

Dr. Richard Darveau

Dr. Darveau is a Professor in the Departments of Periodontics and Oral Biology, at the University of Washington. He has over 18 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a research scientist and leads a group identifying novel anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory therapeutic intervention strategies. Dr. Darveau was recently awarded the 2007 Basic Research in Periodontal Disease Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).

Dr. Robert Genco

Dr. Genco is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Oral Biology, School of Dental Medicine, and in the Department of Microbiology, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has also been a pioneer in the field of periodontal medicine, with his studies on the role of periodontal infections as risk factors for diabetes, heart disease and strokes.

Professor Gareth S. Griffiths

Dr. Griffiths is currently a professor in the Adult Dental Care Program at the University of Sheffield in England. Dr. Griffiths first gained exposure to Periowave™ during a previous tenure at the University College London. Dr. Griffiths has published over 50 peer reviewed articles on Periodontology including clinical trials, epidemiology, and diagnosis, particularly with the use of crevicular fluid as a diagnostic and monitoring tool.

Dr. Angelo Mariotti

Dr. Mariotti is a Professor and Chair, Section of Periodontology, College of Dentistry at the Ohio State University and Adjunct Professor, Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry, at the University of Pittsburgh. He has held instructor and assistant professor positions at West Virginia University, Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Florida. He is on the editorial board and advisory board of the Journal of Periodontology, and is the editor of the Pharmacology and Therapeutics for Dentistry, 6th edition, 2008.

Ms. Trisha O’Hehir

Ms. O’Hehir is a Past-President of the Arizona State Dental Hygienists’ Association and an international speaker, author and instrument designer and is currently the editorial director for Hygienetown Magazine. She was on the founding editorial board for RDH Magazine in 1980 and wrote the Periodontics Column for 14 years. She has published over 200 articles bridging the gap between published research and clinical practice, and is the recipient of numerous industry awards.

Ondine Biomedical

Merrill Biel, MD, PhD, MBA

Dr. Biel is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Minnesota, and is the Chancellor, Head and Neck Optical Diagnostics Society in London, England. Dr. Biel has been involved in the preclinical and clinical applications of photodynamic therapy since 1987, and is considered one of the world’s leading experts in the clinical use of photodynamic therapy. He is a founder of Advanced Photodynamic Technologies, which was acquired by Ondine Biomedical in 2009. Dr. Biel is a Founding Member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Therapy and a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, including 30 manuscripts and 4 book chapters on pre-clinical and clinical applications of photodynamic therapy. Dr. Biel has received numerous honors and awards, including, among others, the prestigious National Research Service Award from the US National Institute of Health.
