About Ondine Biomedical

  • Life sciences company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.

  • Leading the charge in breakthrough photodisinfection-based therapies to prevent and treat a broad spectrum of infections, including those caused by superbugs.

We are focused on developing and commercializing novel antimicrobial therapies that address significant patient needs, are environmentally safe, provide substantial public health benefits, are easy to deploy and cost a fraction of the infections they target.

Our Platform Technology

Photodisinfection is a light-based antimicrobial technology that provides rapid destruction of a broad spectrum of pathogens without causing antibiotic resistance.

  • Known scientifically as antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT).

  • Advanced in the late 1980s by professor emeritus of microbiology, Michael Wilson, at University College London for the treatment of oral infections.

  • Refined by Ondine into a patented technology platform that eliminates harmful microbes and reduces inflammation.

Our focus is on combating the exponential growth of microbial resistance caused by misuse of antibiotics.

Our lead product, Steriwave, is a photodisinfection-based medical device to eliminate harmful nasal pathogens that can lead to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Steriwave has been deployed in Canadian hospitals for a number of years and has contributed to significant reductions in infection rates.

  • Topical antiviral therapy for the upper respiratory tract to reduce viral titres and transmission of respiratory viruses (e.g. SARS-CoV-2, influenza, RSV, etc.).

  • Treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis
  • Disinfection of endotracheal tubes to reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia
  • Decolonization of burns and wounds
